Alan Pardew ‘I Hope fans understand perhaps we’re not as great as we should be’

Alan Pardew has said that he hopes the fans understand why Newcastle United aren’t ‘as great as they should be’, though he is expecting the narrow win over Leicester will give everybody confidence.

The United boss accepts that the [intlink id=”49073″ type=”post”]football wasn\’t pretty[/intlink] but that it ‘encapsulated the spirit’ in the dressing room.

It wasn’t pretty;

“We had a performance that encapsulated the spirit we had in the dressing room, the spirit we had to win.

“Sometimes it wasn’t pretty but we are playing under real high high pressure at the moment, but we delivered it and very proud of the players.”

For the fans;

“On behalf of them I just want to say that was for the fans.”

I hope the fans understand;

“We know we have let them down with results and hopefully tonight they can have a very good night.

“I hope our fans understand that we are perhaps not as great as we should be but the confidence of a win will help us.”

In reality the overall performance and match was little different to others against poor teams such as Crystal Palace, Stoke and Hull.

Let’s hope that the result does give them buckets of confidence (and extra ability) because they might very well need it with Spurs, Manchester City and Liverpool up next…
