Is Alan Pardew Going To Put Himself Through Torture With Rest Of Us On Saturday?

Well here we are my friends.

It is Pardew’s last stand on Saturday and two points really stand out to me.

Firstly, is Pardew really going to put himself through Saturday’s torture and why?

He surely knows, and has somewhat acknowledged, that the situation he is in at the club is affecting the players. Does he care that little about them that he is willing to put them through this too? Is it the small matter of his pay off being less if he resigns? Well of course it is. Like he really needs the money anyway. I bet he doesn’t know what it means to hide from the provi man when they come round collecting for their loan. I bet half the crowd do though.

Which leads to my second point. Is Mike Ashley so blinded by greed that he is willing to let this man’s demise bring down everything at the club and give us the possibility of relegation, while further driving a wedge between the fans and the club.

How much more money will it cost to sack him? Nothing in comparison to losing our place in the Premier League.

The atmosphere around the club as long as Pardew is there, is going to cost us many points over the season. Pressure is debilitating. Confidence at this level is huge and we have none right now.

Worse still, the guy whose job it is to install confidence in the team has no respect from anyone, as they surely more than us, know the club would be better off if he resigned. His negative tactics must frustrate them more than us. I mean who plays two holding midfielders and just one striker at home against Crystal Palace?

You have to feel sorry for Riviere. You can tell he really wants to do well but gets so worked up that when he does get a sniff he snatches at it.

Cabella was awful against Southampton. He didn’t work in closing down space or tracking back like he was pushed by Pardew to do over the opening 3 games. He is probably questioning his own ability already. Watch him playing for France or at Montpellier last season and he is really great.

He is not a defensive midfielder. He hangs around in space looking to punish teams quickly when we do get possession. Our possession dominance this season comes from playing so many people behind the ball. The trouble is that it makes our build up slow and opposition players end up reorganised. We then expect our limited flair players to do something which has been lacking.

Eventually when there is nothing going forward we resort to longer balls into the hard working but outnumbered Riviere. I mean if you want to play with a ton of defensive midfielders and knock long balls up to the big guy, then at least play two up top.

Do the players a favour and resign so they, and we, can get on with life.
