Alan Pardew ‘I don’t want to stand here and make excuses…’

After making it four derby defeats in a row, Alan Pardew claimed that his team had played well and created ‘numerous chances’.

The Newcastle manager also making reference to what he clearly sees as a negative Sunderland playing style, stating that if you score against them then are forced to change their game plan.

A strange state of affairs as Alan Pardew appears to be totally ignorant of the fact that everything he says about Gus Poyet and Sunderland’s game plan/formation, also applies to himself and the way he sends Newcastle out game after game.

Alan Pardew;

“We’ve played well and created numerous chances but you know if you don’t score, you are always at risk. Painfully we’ve lost.

“The way Sunderland play, if you score the first goal then you are really in the driving seat because they then have to change their game plan and it makes it a lot easier to break down.

“But they grew in confidence from the fact that survived that (opening 20 minute) period.”

I don’t want to make excuses;

“Their goalkeeper has had to make three or four great saves. I don’t want to stand here and make excuses…it’s a tough tough result and the players have given everything.

“You can’t perhaps always say that in one or two of the recent derbies.”
