Alan Pardew ‘You Can’t Get Beat 4-0 As Newcastle Manager And I Have A Few Times’

The match at Southampton was a bit of a pantomime and the villain (for many fans) Alan Pardew took centre stage.

Sadly it was a pantomime without the laughs but ran true to form as you knew pretty much what was going to happen next.

After the game Alan Pardew had this to say;

“Same as what we did last year, we didn’t get going and the early goals really knocked us on the back foot.

“To be honest they were better than us, we made individual mistakes that we really couldn’t afford and got well beaten.

“We have to take it as a team. We had a great chance at two nil to maybe…we never had a chance to get back in the game, it just didn’t fall for us.

“We had half a chance just after that as well and that is how it goes when you are on a bad run.

“We have played ok at the start of the season and we just really got caught out today.

“We didn’t have long to prepare with the internationals but that is no excuse – we should have been better.

“I think when the third goal went in the spirit had fallen away but the players had tried everything at two nil, they just got caught out, two good goals and we was in trouble.

“They are fair (criticism from fans) because you can’t get beat four nil as Newcastle manager and I have had it a few times at this club.

“It is tough to take, it is not easy to digest, and it is not easy either for the players to play under those circumstances.

“We have to put ourselves  on the line and be brave, and certainly we have a bit more quality than we showed today for sure- we need to get that on the pitch.”
