Will It Be Milan, Madrid Or…Azerbaijan For Newcastle?

They still might not have seen any mackems on the streets of Milan but they could be seeing Geordies once again in the near future.

Around noon today Newcastle will find out the three teams they will play home and away in the group stage of the Europa League.

The clubs are split into four pots with United in Pot 3, meaning we can’t draw Lazio who are in the same grouping.

The good news is that there isn’t really a bad draw to be had from Pot 1 in terms of an attractive trip although I’m guessing a return to Inter Milan or visit to the holders, Atletico Madrid, would go down pretty well.

In Pot 2 we could be making a return trip to Bilbao (memories!), or alternatively be heading off to Copenhagen (FC Copenhagen) or Naples (Maradona’s old team Napoli).

Maybe the pick of destinations in Pot 4 is Vienna to face Rapid Wien/Vienna.

On the other hand, all but the more adventurous/with deep pockets might fancy missing out a visit to Tel-Aviv from Pot 2 or Neftchi (Azerbaijan) in Pot 4.

As ever, always good to be in the Hat/Pot, after all we’re all Europeans these days…well unless you live in sunderland!

View all the options here, though remember – clubs from the same country can’t play each other at this stage.
