The Newcastle v Hull match will be remembered for any number of reasons but when it came to the standout players for United, there were only two contenders with the rest trailing way behind.

While Alan Pardew bizarrely picked out the struggling[intlink id=”47751″ type=”post”] Remy Cabella as United\’s big success story on Saturday[/intlink], in our man of the match poll, it was a pair of United stalwarts who dominated.

Cheick Tiote literally ran himself into the ground for the cause and just edged out another returning teammate, Papiss Cisse.

Cisse’s two goal cameo brought him 44% of the votes cast, while Cheick Tiote just edged him out with 47%.

Such was the disparity between this pair and the rest, only Moussa Sissoko with 4% got anything more than a handful of votes.

Not one of the other eleven players on show in black and white managed to get 1% or more of the total votes.

With the new players generally struggling to find their feet, Alan Pardew will be desperately hoping that both Tiote and Cisse can keep this up and inspire those around them.
