Fans Rate The Job Alan Pardew Did Last Season

At the end of each season we run a fans’ poll in our magazine, asking readers to vote on all kinds of topics to do with Newcastle United.

We then collate the thousands of votes and publish all the results in the summer special (out on 8th June – pre-order in our online shop – only £3) of our magazine.

Contributing to those totals, each day we’ll be asking you to vote via the website on a single question, we’ll leave it open for 24 hours and then let you know what the website voting has been.

Yesterday we asked ;

How would you rate the performance of Alan Pardew over the past year?

Our previous poll asked the same question on Mike Ashley and he averaged 4.8 out of 10 which isn’t brilliant but not bad considering how close Newcastle came to relegation.

As for Alan Pardew, the voting shows what a big job he has to convince fans that he is the right man to help Newcastle bounce back.

The spread of votes was as follows, with votes rounded up or down to the nearest whole figure;

10 (1%)
 9 (1%)
 8 (1%)
 7 (2%)
 6 (7%)
 5 (9%)
 4 (17%)
 3 (19%)
 2 (18%)
 1 (11%)
 0 (14%)

Only 12% of fans rated the manager at 6 out of 10 or better and 1 in 4 supporters going for either 0 or 1.

The rating overall on Alan Pardew averaged out at 2.9 out of 10 compared to the 4.8 that Mike Ashley averaged.

The clear message is that more fans blame Newcastle’s poor season at the door of Alan Pardew more than Mike Ashley.

I only speculate but the fact Alan Pardew is the only person who answers pretty much any questions to do with every aspect of the club, puts him in the firing line far too much.

However, I have to say he hasn’t done himself any favours with what he’s had to say and putting forward the same excuses time after time has just wound a lot of fans up.

There might also be an aspect whereby fans know that it is always easier to change a manager than an owner, so pushing for a change of manager is a more realistic option.

Thanks to the thousands of you who voted and watch out for our next Fans’ Poll question coming up shortly..
