Wolves 1 Newcastle 1 – Miguel Almiron makes first appearance as United throw it away in final seconds
It ended Wolves 1 Newcastle 1 and no doubt the home side will be wondering (see match stats below) how they didn’t take all three points on balance of play and chances.
However, it will be Rafa’s players who will be feeling crushed after conceding an equaliser in the final seconds.
Plenty of chances but it was Isaac Hayden who put the ball into the back of the net on 56 minutes.
Only for Willy Boly to ensure the points were shared.
A predictably gritty performance from Rafa’s players and whilst they rode their luck at times, through sheer effort they deserved their point.
Whilst Hayden scored only his second Premier League goal, 16 months after the first one, it was Sean Longstaff who was man of the match.
Just showing what can be possible when young players get their chance.
Miguel Almiron got 20 or so minutes and impressed in his cameo, the Paraguayan getting a great reception from the travelling fans.
A night where you would have taken a point but not when you were only seconds from getting all three.
Three points would have been massive but at least the draw takes us above Cardiff and now one point above the drop, rather than just goal difference.
A win at home to Huddersfield in 12 days time is still essential.
