Wolves 1 Newcastle 1 – Instant United fan/writer reaction to Monday’s draw

Wolves 1 Newcastle 1  – Monday 11 February 8pm

We asked a number of our regular writers to give us a brief instant reaction after the final whistle.

Newcastle putting in a committed display and an excellent Schar pass setting up Isaac Hayden for a great finish to put NUFC ahead.

Only for Boly to grab a last minute equaliser…

Ben Cooper:

“Another late goalkeeping error cost NUFC points, this one as late as they come.

“In some ways it was hard on a team who put in 100% against lacklustre opposition but you could hardly say that United were good.

“In a poor game, the performance was adequate and so was the end result.

“That is where we are.

“Just about adequate.”

Jamie Smith:

“Hard not to feel pi..ed off when you lose 2 points when injury time should be over, to 2 fouls against a team and player that robbed you blind in the return game.

“But just let’s move past it.

“The crap run of games is over and we’re not in the bottom 3. Let’s take the point and move on.”

David Punton:

“Death to Monday night football. That was sickening.

“Sky TV have fans traipsing across the country on Monday nights to watch games.

“Nobody likes it and it puts pressure on sides at the bottom as they have to play after all others are home and hosed on a Saturday/Sunday.

“How we have come off that pitch with just a point is beyond me.

“I’m sure it is a point we would all have taken beforehand, but the nature of what happens, makes it a nightmare.

“With stoppage time over there, we see another calamity and it’s two points dropped.

“Hard on the lads after taking the lead and holding it for so long.

“So it’s 25 points instead of 27. We’re wading through treacle to find safety.”

Jack Lace-Hatton:

“Gutted with the nature of the result but another defensive performance to be proud of.

“Rafa did all he could and the back three were magnificent and Longstaff is one of the few credits to the club.

“Another night and we hang on, it’s rough.

“But so was Bournemouth last year (the 2-2) and we still stayed up.

“Play like that and we’ll be ok.”

Paul Patterson:

“Disgraceful.

“Referee would have played on for another ten minutes.”

Jonathan Drape-Comyn:

“Great performance from Newcastle.

“Referee, not the goalkeeper, completely to blame.

“Where did he get four minutes from?

“Why did he play an extra 40 seconds?

“I am the last to blame a result on the referee but that is a disgrace.”

Nat Seaton:

“Another error by Dubravka cost us after a decent performance.

“Hard to take when they score like this so late on.

“Absolutely gutted, but on the plus side, there are definite signs of improvement.

“The upcoming home games against the teams around us will be crucial but I’m more confident than I was a few weeks ago.”

Brian Standen:

“Listen. Still a great point.

“Ref messed up on 94 mins. Was a foul we did not get in the corner!

“Overall would have taken it before kick off.

“End of the day it is a good point with big games at home to come.”

Toon Bano:

“I mean, what the hell?

“I can’t take much more of this.

“We win that game and I can’t see how we get relegated with the fixtures we have.

“Now, pressure is on as have to win.

“Sick.”
