Rafa Benitez has met the media on Friday afternoon.

The Newcastle  boss talking to reporters three days ahead of the Wolves match.

Rafa in a good mood as well, with plenty of options now to choose from, as more players are available for this next match.

Miguel Almiron now has his work permit and has had three days of training so far with his new teammates.

Meanwhile, Yoshinori Muto is also available now after returning from the Asian Cup.

Ki Sung-yeung came home early from the Asian Cup with a hamstring injury but Rafa Benitez says he is now fit to be considered for selection on Monday.

Whilst Paul Dummett, Karl Darlow and Mohamed Diame are also back in the squad.

In fact there are only two who are definitely ruled out with Jonjo Shelvey and Rob Elliot still needing more time.

It remains to be seen of course exactly when Rafa judges the best time is to give Almiron and/or Barreca a start.

Hopefully this week’s training has told him a lot and next week’s break in Spain will tell of course him a whole lot more.

Rafa on injury news:

“It’s much better.

“Apart from Jonjo (Shelvey) and (Rob) Elliot, the rest of the team are fine.

“Everyone else is fit and available.

“It is good news – competition, as I always say, is positive for the team.”

Rafa on Jonjo Shelvey:

“He is close.

“He has been training outside but we don’t want to take any risks.

“Still I think we have to wait one or two weeks. It depends.”

Rafa on Miguel Almiron:

“He’s a nice lad, he’s a worker and he’s training well.

“He has been talking with the nutritionist already – he’s quite professional.

“Everything we try to do with every player, we will do with him.

“Language will not be an issue.

“He will need time to adapt but he can talk with a lot of the players in Spanish and he understands English.”

Rafa on Antonio Barreca:

“His English is worse than Almiron but that’s ok because we can communicate (Rafa was at both Inter and Napoli so his Italian must be decent).

“He is very focused but he’s another one that will need more time.’”
