The draw for the Checkatrade Trophy has taken place on Friday afternoon.

Both Newcastle and Sunderland were in the draw and have discovered who they will face next.

The Newcastle United Under 21s did really well to finish top of their group, beating the first teams from League One Doncaster and League Two clubs Notts County and Grimsby Town.

Their reward is a home game against Macclesfield who are rock bottom of League Two.

The NUFC Under 21s will play their last 32 tie in week beginning Monday 3 December.

Sunderland’s first teams are playing in this competition and they won their group when defeating Morecambe with a late goal in midweek.
