A rare day yesterday when all fans were happy with the Dwight Gayle for Salomon Rondon swap deal.

Dwight Gayle off to West Brom and Salomon Rondon at Newcastle United.

Saturday saw Rondon heading towards top form, scoring the two goals that won the match and almost getting his hat-trick against Bournemouth.

Newcastle fans buoyed by the sight of a striker leading the line and putting in the effort, as well as the goals.

Meanwhile, West Brom were up against league leaders Leeds, the Baggies having dropped down to tenth.

Having soared to the of the league themselves not so long ago, West Brom had won only one point from the last twelve.

Dwight Gayle had missed recent games with injury after having scored nine goals in 13 Championship starts (plus two off the bench).

However, he made his return to action yesterday, scoring an outrageous backheel only seconds after coming onto the pitch.

Dwight Gayle now has a record of nine goals in 980 Championship minutes for West Brom, a goal every 109 minutes.

West Brom moving up to fifth after Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Leeds.

In his Championship season with Newcastle, Dwight Gayle scored 23 goals in 2,146 minutes, at a rate of one every 93 minutes.
