Mo Salah has already been named Premier League player of the year and is a strong candidate for World player of the year, especially if going on to help Liverpool win the Champions League.
Last night, the left footed genius put on a brilliant display and scored twice as Liverpool beat Roma 5-2.
However, he could very easily have been turning out for Newcastle United instead…
It turns out that back in 2011, Mo Salah was on the verge of joining Newcastle.
After impressing in the Under 20s World Cup, Salah said in August 2011 that he expected to shortly join Newcastle on loan.
The then 19 year old said it would be a dream to join Newcastle and play in the Premier League.
Who knows what went wrong…but Mo Salah stayed one more year in Egypt with Al Mokawloon Al Arab SC and then a year later moved for £2m to Basel in Switzerland.
It was then Chelsea, Roma, and now Liverpool, where he is looking like he could become one of the greats of World football in the next few years.
