The results of the Newcastle United  v Manchester United player ratings by fans.

Always interested to see what supporters have collectively made of the latest performance, when using our interactive ratings system.

Each player marked out of 10 and the averages below.

A game that started so well but slipped away from Newcastle in a 10 minute period before half-time.

The second-half becoming a bit of a stroll for the home side as Newcastle paid the price for conceding goals at crucial times, as well as not taking the opportunities presented after Dwight Gayle’s 14th minute effort.

Three players have still managed credible ratings despite the 4-1 scoreline.

Top of those is DeAndre Yedlin (7.1), doing quite well at right-back and covering across the back using his pace, as well as creating that Gayle goal.

Backing him up are the two players who suggested they were the two of the front six who can mix it with better teams in the Premier League.

Jonjo Shelvey (6.7) having creative moments and comfortable on the ball unlike many around him, whilst Dwight Gayle (6.5) scored the goal and had excellent workrate, as well as intelligent running/pressure in that first half.

Elsewhere it wasn’t such a positive story, although centre-backs Ciaran Clark (5.9) and Florian Lejeune (5.4) did their best to stem the flow, the Frenchman though partly to blame for both the second and fourth goals.

At the very bottom of the fan ratings we had players at opposite ends of the pitch.

Joselu (3.6) had some decent moments, like most of his teammates in the opening stages, but then became less and less effective.

At the other end, Rob Elliot (4.4) wasn’t convincing throughout and whilst not dropping real clangers, did very little to help those in front of him.

Javier Manquillo (4.5) yet again looked out of his depth, Matt Ritchie (4.7) was anonymous, whilst on the other side of the pitch Jacob Murphy (5.3) had a couple of decent moments but overall didn’t suggest he is the answer in the short-term.

Isaac Hayden (5.2) is another who struggled to match what Man Utd offered and was at fault for the crucial opening goal as well as regularly giving the ball away. Hopefully he will improve with experience.

As for the subs…none of them pressed for a place in the team, leaving Rafa Benitez with seemingly few selection dilemmas for Watford on Saturday.
