The Rafa Benitez Crystal Palace press conference has taken place on Friday lunchtime.

The United boss asked about a potential takeover of the club, his reply being that he is simply the manager of the club and his priority is to prepare the team for Saturday’s match.

Rafa is politely, but firmly, avoiding the question.

When it comes to injuries, there are three definitely ruled out.

As well as long-term injuries Haidara and Dummett, Rafa Benitez confirms that Dwight Gayle’s ‘little problem’ with his calf means he won’t be involved against Palace either.

Earlier today, there was also news that four of the first team squad would be playing for the reserves tonight (Friday), so will also definitely not be involved on Saturday afternoon – Freddie Woodman, Jack Colback, Rolando Aarons, and Jamie Sterry, all getting some pitch time for the second string.

Dummett and Haidara are still out injured but apart from that,

Rafa Benitez Crystal Palace press conference:

“My opinion (on a potential NUFC takeover) is we have to play against Crystal Palace, I have to concentrate on that.

“We talk about football. I know the history and opinions. Let’s be sure we prepare set pieces, tactics, what we can do in the game.

“My position is simple. I am the manager and I concentrate on football. I have to be sure my players think about three points.

“We have a good team with young players and they are improving. I am positive in terms of what we can achieve.

“The fans, the club, the potential is massive. If we do well on the pitch, everything is easier.

“Crystal Palace have played some good football.

“They did really well against Chelsea so they will have confidence, no game is easy.

“This game will be important for Crystal Palace. There is plenty of time to change things but they have to improve and win games.

“Haïdara has been training. Still we have Dummett out. Gayle has had a little problem with his calf and is not ready for this game.”
