We asked fans will Mike Ashley sell NUFC before Rafa leaves, or break transfer record? Votes counted

On Tuesday, we asked Toon fans, what next at Newcastle United?

We wanted supporters to tell us what they THINK will happen, not what they HOPE will occur.

The three areas of interest were:

Newcastle’s transfer record has stood for 12 years, the £16m for Michael Owen in 2005 still the biggest paid out so far.

It is now over 10 years since Mike Ashley bought Newcastle United in 2007.

Rafa Benitez has been at St James Park for 19 months, arriving in March 2016.

So the question was, which of these three things did supporters will change first at Newcastle United?

Here are the results:

52% Mike Ashley will sell Newcastle United

32% Rafa Benitez will leave the club

16% Newcastle United will break their transfer record

Quite amazing really that despite Newcastle’s transfer record being a very modest £16m, in today’s market, 84% of supporters think it is more likely either the owner or manager will leave before the record is broken.

Maybe a big factor in that is that fans think realistic transfer funds won’t be forthcoming until Mike Ashley sells up.

Obviously recent speculation on a possible sale of the club has also raised the hopes of all supporters as well.
