Young Newcastle loan star Sean Longstaff continues to have his name up in lights in Blackpool.

The 19 year old Newcastle midfielder has been a revelation in his loan spell on the north west coast so far and made it four goals from four League One starts on Saturday.

He doesn’t score tap-ins either (see the latest goal below), most of his shooting/scoring resulting from driving runs from midfield and/or long-range efforts.

It was AFC Wimbledon he was up against yesterday and the 52nd minute effort from Sean Longstaff was enough to take the points, moving Blackpool up to seventh position in the table, though only goal difference separating them from fifth.

Official Blackpool site:

‘Sean Longstaff extended his superb run of form to by scoring the winning goal, as Blackpool recorded a 1-0 victory against AFC Wimbledon at Bloomfield Road.

The on-loan Newcastle United midfielder made it four goals in four Sky Bet League One games by finding the bottom corner with an effort just after half-time.

Blackpool started the second-half at a faster tempo and opened the scoring in the 52nd minute through Sean Longstaff. The goal came from a long ball forward from Allsop, Nathan Delfouneso flicked it into the path of the 19-year-old and he worked his way into the area and finished neatly into the bottom corner.’

Blackpool boss Gary Bowyer:

“It was a really pleasing victory because in the first-half I didn’t think we were really in the flow or the rhythm, but you have to give credit to Wimbledon for how they set-up and tried to stop us playing.

“In the second-half we came out and we were brighter. We asked them to stretch it a little bit and we got the goal with a fabulous strike again from Sean Longstaff.

“Sean Longstaff is a wonderful footballer with the ball and one of the things that we saw when we were scouting him was his calmness in front of goal. He’s shown great composure today.”

Good luck to Sean Longstaff over the course of the rest of his loan spell and  hopefully he can one day be showing this form for Newcastle United (though not in League One…).
