Liverpool fans comment on Newcastle game – Very diverse views…

Liverpool fans are looking forward to Sunday’s match and have presented a whole range of views in their comments ahead of the match.

A lot of love for Rafa, and even some likes for Newcastle United, but of course what it comes down to is that like any set of supporters they are just desperate to see their team win.

The range of comments from Liverpool fans goes from believing  in a desperate hammering of Newcastle, right through to certain defeat because of their defensive woes.

Maybe the most popular view though is that the scousers think they will win easily if getting the first goal BUT fear that if they don’t take their chances Newcastle could/would capitalise…

Liverpool fans comment via their top Red and White Kop message board:

‘These are woeful, hopefully we can beat a woeful side for once.’

‘We are 2 points better off than them.’

‘Good for them, they are still absolute rubbish.’

‘Sorry Rafa, love you and everything, but the Reds are ready to roll.’

‘Early goal and we could absolutely batter these.  If they stifle us out then we could be in for a frustrating day, again.’

‘This is a real banana skin and the only reason is because Newcastle aren’t great at all.

Leave the Rafa sentimentality til after the game (though I do love the guy), we need to stuff these Geordies.’

‘I think we will win but It won’t be entirely surprising if we don’t come away with three points.

We know how rafa sets his teams up to control the game then capitalise, at least thats what he did with us.

As a strategist who prepares for games thoroughly he will know that sitting deep causes us problems and if he can keep us out until after half time the intensity in our game will drop off, but we will keep going forward and lapse in concentration.

This is perhaps when he will look to commit men forward more.

He will know we are rubbish on set pieces as well. Thing is I don’t thank Rafa has the personnel in his team to beat us on the day and Kwality will win the day.’

‘Mitrovic would fit the bill as someone who’d make our defenders uncomfortable. Until he gets sent off that is…’

‘Agree with Oxlade shouts, Can deserves dropping for a bit and Gini, well not sure he’ll handle the boos.’

‘Newcastle have started quite well and could jump ahead of us if they win.

I expect an open match and I think we’ll see our attack start to shine again.

3-1 to us.’

‘Let’s start putting some of these chances away. As ever, could do with a win, although I like Newcastle so wouldn’t begrudge them a draw. Despite that, I hope we smash ’em.’

‘Our last two visits to St James’ Park were frustratingly similar. Hopefully this time our swashbuckling side finally come back, after being absent for most of the month.

Coutinho’s probably knackered for starting 3 games in a row, but we really need his quality to break yet another bus. In an ideal scenario, we’re clear winners by the 60th minute and he gets subbed off.’

‘I cant recall the last time we beat them at their ground (last visit we lost 2-0, Gini scored twice and previously it was 2-2 under Rodgers, past that I cant remember, I think Pardew beat us there as well)

So it has not been kind to us and they will be drilled well defensively. But its a must win going into the break.’

‘We should be beating average teams like this if we want to finish in the european places.’

‘We’ll create chances for sure – if we take them and don’t mess up at the back we’ll win. Big if of course.’

‘Corners and set pieces is where this game will be won or lost. Lascelles is a handful at finding space and we are rather rubbish at defending.

Get an early goal and then force Newcastle to come out and attack.’

‘Please win.

And don’t let Dwight Gayle anywhere near our penalty area.’

‘Rafa is strong defensively, so that’s us knackered.’

‘Play like we did against Spartak and we win.’

‘Somebody gonna get hurt real bad.

We are due a goalfest. Sorry Rafa.’

‘Get an early goal and the floodgates may open, but fail to do so and I can see us snatching at chances and rushing things yet again and not scoring more than a goal whilst conceding at least one is always a given.

I’ll go for a 1-2 or 1-3 win as they looked awful against Brighton.’

‘Rafa will park the bus here. He’s an astute manager and knows that if your well drilled defensivley against us, you have a great of getting a good result.

I’m predicting a frustrating 1-1 draw. We will dominate the game but concede a soft goal like we usualy do and miss a host of chances as well.’

‘Sorry Rafa but someone’s due an absolute spanking.  Thanks for the good times but, I hope it’s your boys as ‘that’ performance can’t come soon enough at the moment.

We haven’t had great rests but there has been some fantastic football played.  Just one game where we stick away chances and keep things sensible at the other end could see us really kick on.

I know we already turned over Arsenal but everyone knows they are bottlers.  Seriously though I feel we are in the verge of turning a corner and kicking on.

Eternally optimistic.  Come on lads, smash these.’

‘This is a fascinating duel, what with us creating chances by the dozen and them having Rafa to thwart and counter.’

‘I love Rafa but I hope we thrash his team regardless.’

‘Been some great games in the past but now these shouldn’t have anywhere near enough to hurt us.

They aren’t going to out play us, they aren’t exactly set piece specialists or have a well built side to out fight us. We are our only problem I can see. We should be putting a few past these.’

‘The pessimist in me would worry about Rafa stifling our attack with a well-drilled unit.

The optimist in me would believe that we are creating so many good chances – high calibre opportunities – that we are bound to score a few goals.

Newcastle have been a bit average so far. We should take all three points…SHOULD.’

‘I can’t see past it being a disappointing dominant game that ends in a draw or even a loss.

Hopefully with Mane back we’ll have that extra spark upfront – but it seems these days either our attack clicks and our defence lets us down by conceding or the defence manages to do well and the attack waste so many chances.

I feel we’re at the stage already this season where we need to give someone a good tonking to get some confidence back – and this will be achieved by playing our best players for 90 mins.

I hate to feel all gloomy – but watching us at the moment does exactly that.’

‘Rafa will set up to stifle us and counter but we should have enough if we know how to put the thing in the net.

Can see this being a draw.’

‘At the moment the result is more important than the performance as this is the last match before internationals and then we can draw a line under this weird series of games we’ve had since the start of September.

2-1 reds (just can’t see us keeping a clean sheet but we will win).’
