Newcastle 2 Nottingham Forest 3 (AET) – 23 August 2017 7.45pm

Another day (night), another cup exit.

Newcastle started well with a Mitrovic strike on three minutes, before falling victim to some shocking defender and went behind 2-1 leading up to the break.

However, an even better Aarons goal levelled in first-half injury time.

A goalless second-half was then followed by extra time and another poor goal (the winner) conceded.

Watch it all below in these official video match highlights.

That third Forest goal was the worst case of crisp packet hands I’ve ever seen.
    New keeper is essential.

Soft,he should have had it ? If we really can’t get another decent keeper give Woodman a game before he gets hacked off and leaves.

It was an ideal situation to give Woodman a start, but as with taking the opportunity to play with two forwards and give both Mitrovic and Jose Luis some game time, Benitez doesn’t gamble so we didn’t see it.

Woodman should be a big part of the future of the club but he is rightly ambitious and can’t be impressed being 3rd choice behind the present incumbents.

Yet another free header from a corner. When are NUFC ever going to stop conceding these soft goals? I swear a corner is as good as a penalty for our opposition.

Rafa muffed it yesterday, end of story.
