Newcastle United season ticket renewals to be sent out only week before deadline

A few weeks ago I called up the club and asked when the Newcastle United season ticket renewals were going to be posted out.

I was told that everybody (whose ST needed to be renewed) would receive them by week ending Friday 26 May.

That deadline came and went but nothing popped through the letterbox.

However, then the club started to promote season ticket renewal information via their website and social media, with links of how to renew online and download forms etc etc (see below).

After giving it until the end of last week (Friday 2 June) I gave up on anything arriving through the post and downloaded a form so I could renew my Newcastle United season ticket.

Nothing ever has come in the post and when an elderly friend of the family asked what was happening, I said I would give the NUFC ticket office a call on his behalf.

It took forever to get to speak to anybody (kept asking me to leave a message) but when I did, it was a bit of a surprise.

The ticket office person told me that renewal information was still going to be posted out but they were waiting until a week before the deadline (Monday 26 June), then sending out something in the post to anybody who hadn’t renewed by that point.

For most people it isn’t a major problem, as lots of us are regularly using social media etc but it would have been good for the club to at least tell us they were doing this (not posting renewals until last minute), or giving people the option to still get renewals by post by opting in etc.

I have downloaded a season ticket renewal form for our elderly family friend and he is going to send a cheque now to make sure his seat is secured.

If you know of any season ticket holders who might not use the technology of today, especially the elderly, might be worth passing this information on and offer to download forms or whatever on their behalf, just so they can get it sorted now (NB I wouldn’t bother trying to ring the ticket office unless you have a few hours of your life you aren’t bothered about losing).

Not the biggest issue (unless you ended up missing out on renewing…) in the world but seems a bit penny pinching to do this at last minute, especially considering just how much silly money all Premier League clubs get handed to them these days.

From The Mag – Tuesday 30 May:

The club have announced how Newcastle United season tickets can be renewed ahead of the 2017/18 season, with information set out below.

As for those without season tickets currently, those seats that are already vacant will go on sale on Monday 19 June, whilst those seats that aren’t renewed will become available sometime after Monday 26 June.

Newcastle United official announcement:

Season ticket holders can now secure their seats for Newcastle United’s 2017/18 Premier League campaign.

As announced in February, the club has opted to freeze its prices for existing season ticket holders, meaning supporters will pay no more in the Premier League than they did for last season’s successful Championship-winning campaign.

With the club offering fans a 10% price reduction for Championship football last season, supporters who have continued to renew since the club’s most recent Premier League campaign will be paying even less for top-flight football this time around.

Supporters now have until Monday 26 June to renew their existing seat before unsold seats are released for general sale. Seats that are already vacant will go on general sale on Monday 19 June, with full details and prices to be released soon.

Here is how existing season ticket holders can renew:
