Newcastle fans have been left stunned, with the terrible news that Cheick Tiote has died.

The midfielder would have turned 31 later this month (June) and his death is sure to be met with the same kind of shock that was felt when Pavel Srnicek passed away aged only 47.

According to the reports, it would appear Cheick Tiote had a heart attack on the training ground and was rushed to hospital – but sadly they weren’t able to save his life.

The player’s agent Emanuele Palladino has confirmed the news and asked for the family’s privacy to be respected:

“I confirm that my client Cheick Tiote sadly passed away today.”

Only 30 years old, Sky Sportsthe BBC and The Mail all reported that the former Newcastle midfielder collapsed and passed away during a training session with Beijing Enterprises FC.

The player only moving to China from Newcastle less than four months ago.

Terrible news and obviously all our thoughts are with his family and friends.
