Sam Allardyce has walked out on Crystal Palace according to an exclusive on Tuesday teatime.

The former Newcastle and Sunderland boss is claimed to have quit after he failed to get assurances from Palace Chairman Steve Parish.

As well as Sky Sports, The Mirror and many others running the story, The Mail exclusive says that Sam Allardyce met Parish on Tuesday morning for talks.

Obviously things not going too well, as Allardyce is reported to have stunned Crystal Palace by telling them he wants to quit as their manager after only five months in the post.

Palace’s wage bill has rocketed ever since Pardew arrived at Selhurst Park and between he and Allardyce, over £85m has been spent on players in these past two windows.

The obvious conclusion for most people would appear to be that Palace have decided to rein in their spending a bit next season.

The Mail say that they understand Steve Parish with be looking to instigate more talks with Allardyce and his representatives but that these will be futile, as Fat Sam has apparently made his mind up.

It is even reported that Allardyce has already cleared his desk out at the club’s training ground in Beckenham.

If he has walked away permanently then this is going to give Barcelona something extra to think about.

With John Carver, David Moyes, Steve McClaren and Alan Pardew all out of a job currently, adding Sam Allardyce to that list gives Barca a major headache when it comes to which of the five will succeed Luis Enrique…
