There WILL be Newcastle signings this summer but I doubt whether many/any could potentially come from this list below.

Since Newcastle clinched the title on Sunday 7 May, I count an incredible 41 rumoured signings in only the last 11 days.

With 86 days remaining until the Premier League season kicks off (12 August), then a few more weeks after that until the transfer window at last closes, you can only begin to guess at how many names will be thrown at us.

We have to still make a living the journalists shout, which is of course true, but surely they could at least dilute this constant diet of made up imaginary transfer targets for Newcastle…and every other club.

It is such a lazy load of nonsense and if you bother checking back, you find many of the journalists have ran the same story, on the same player, in one or more previous transfer windows.

Hopefully Rafa Benitez will get in early once the window opens in July and take a lot of the wind out of the sails, from the fiction writers.

And the window doesn’the actually open until 1 July! Virtually all of these rumours will have been planted by agents seeking a move or a better deal for their clients. Journalists struggling for a story based on research and facts with which to generate advertising revenue are only too happy to recycle these under the guise of journalism. Everyone’s a winner! Treat the stories as a branch of the entertainment industry and you won’t go far wrong.

I’m sure that list has given Rafa a few chuckles !

The one (actually there’s probably more than one ?) bad thing about t’internet is that any wally can print out garbage and have it up in lights within minutes. It’s up to the rest of us to ignore said garbage and wait until the bloke’s holding up the shirt !

  • TheNutJob

We can always sign Obertan as he’s just been released by Wigan. Don’t swear at me I was only joking.
