After a rare lapse from David Prutton, he is back on track.

The Sky Sports pundit forecast Newcastle to beat Burton 1-0 on Wednesday and now that he has actually got a prediction right, he has reverted back to type.

David Prutton thinks Rafa Benitez will use the same tactics that beat Huddersfield 3-1 away from home but this time the Magpies will ‘slip-up’, whilst the other two teams in the top three (Brighton and Huddersfield) will win.

Predicting a 2-2 draw for Newcastle at Hillsborough, Prutton believes that because of NUFC’s strong position, the United boss will take a draw.

After a run of only one win in seven, Sheffield Wednesday managed to beat rock bottom Rotherham 2-0 on Tuesday, though reports suggest they were anything but convincing.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have lost just one of their last 15 Championship games.

Another interesting second tier weekend awaits…

David Prutton:

“You can see Newcastle doing what they did to the likes of Huddersfield at Sheffield Wednesday, allowing them to dominate the ball and hitting them on the counter.

“Automatic promotion is paramount for Newcastle, but because of the cushion they have in the top two, and with Wednesday needing a result to stay in the pack, I think it will be a draw.”

David Prutton predictions this coming weekend:

Friday 7 April

Qpr 1 Brighton 2 (7.45pm)

Saturday 8 April

Leeds 1 Preston 1 (3pm)

Norwich 0 Reading 2 (3pm)

Nottingham Forest 0 Huddersfield 2 (3pm)

Sheff Wed 2 Newcastle 2 (5.30pm)

I know the game on Saturday will be hard , Not like Huddersfield .. noo
SW play exactly like us defensively , the second best organised team after us
They don’t press like Huddersfield , they rely on their organisation & work rate
will be hard ,,, so so hard to even create proper chances & if they score first ?
    it’s over really …

Did you go to the home game? They were playing it into the corner flags at the end and just mugged us for a goal. Half their players are makems from 5/10 years ago, like Fletcher and Wallace. We really should not fear them at all, if we actually turn up this time and it’s the Shelvey/Gayle show.

Actually I think it’s looking more and more likely we’ll def get promoted so the huge amount of pressure we’ve been under all season is starting to lift.

I think we’ll see a more confident and less jittery performance which should result in some big wins in the final run in. I’m predicting we win 3-0 especially as it’s away from home which seems to suit us more at the moment.

  • Paul Busby

Does he even look at the team sheets and injury tables?

We are pretty much back to full strength now, yet he still thinks we will go for a draw?

    I doubt it.

Just another sad Mackem that fantisies too much about Newcastle.

Pundits predictions are bit pathetic anyway. Prutton is just going for shock tactics. If I said that a relegation threatened side would beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge EVERY week, I’d be laughed at, but if I kept doing it, one week I’d be right eventually. Look at what Crystal Palace did last weekend, who would have predicted that?
