The Newcastle v Barnsley match rounds off the season in 11 days time, with all Championship matches kicking off at 12 noon.
Barnsley were given an initial allocation of 1,706 tickets for the trip to Tyneside with the Yorkshire club adding that they had the potential for extra tickets, depending on how quickly the initial supply sold out.
On Monday they made the following statement:
Barnsley FC – Monday 24 April 2017:
‘Initial allocation SOLD OUT for Newcastle, further allocation requested.
We have requested a further allocation of tickets for our trip to face Newcastle on the final day of the season and are awaiting delivery of the tickets.
We will keep all supporters informed as to when they will arrive.
Tickets ordered today are on a pre-order basis to season ticket holders only.’
Today (Wednesday) they have confirmed the arrival of extra tickets AND the potential for a third allocation.
Barnsley FC – Wednesday 26 April 2017:
‘We have now received the latest batch of tickets from Newcastle United.
The additional tickets came late yesterday.
All outstanding orders have now been processed and are ready for collection/have been posted.
Thank you for your patience.
We have currently sold 2,125 tickets. That means we have 185 remaining from the 1st and 2nd batches and the option of the 3rd batch of 404 tickets.
Tickets are available to season ticket holders only today.’
So Barnsley are taking up at least 2,300 tickets, with the possibility they will take the third allocation of 404 tickets, taking them up to 2,704 – some 500 short of the maximum away allocation.
All home tickets were quickly sold out, so we now wait to see if any more tickets will go on sale to Newcastle supporters.
