The Newcastle team v Ipswich has just been announced.

Newcastle currently trailing four points behind Brighton and eight points ahead of Huddersfield (a game in hand) before Monday’s fixtures,

Rafa Benitez makes five changes to the team that drew with Leeds.

DeAndre Yedlin comes in for Vurnon Anita, whilst more surprisingly Hanley replaces Mbemba.

That leaves the centre of defence with zero pace and also, the consensus amongst fans appeared to be that Mbemba was better than Lascelles on Friday, as the Captain went missing on the equaliser.

Meanwhile, left wing sees Christian Atsu get his turn instead of Gouffran.

Whilst the front two are swapped, Murphy and Diame in for Mitrovic and Perez.

Newcastle United:

Darlow, Yedlin, Lascelles, Hanley, Dummett, Ritchie, Shelvey, Hayden, Atsu, Diame, Murphy

Subs:

Elliot, Gamez, Mbemba, Colback, Gouffran, Perez, Mitrovic

  • Biggs Darklighter

Colback should be released on a free, he is only a liability.

    • Jezza

Let’s just hope and pray he isn’t brought on if we’re hanging on to a slender lead again.

  • love toon despite

    Is Vurn injured?

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

No he borrowed a T Shirt off Chancel

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

      No just dropped

      • love toon despite

That’s tough on him, not even on the bench!!!

  • Anita kick up the Hoop

Sick of Raffa thinking tactics are more important than players .. building a team is impossible with changes that make no sense.. as a striker how can you build a understanding or confidence if you are dropped every other week?

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

you cant that`s why there`s so many disjointed displays there`s no consistency to his selections

      • Anita kick up the Hoop

Exactly.. on a day when Sir Bobby is remembered, would he have made these changes after our best display in months? .. would he knock the confidence of his forwards? .. this is getting to be a bad habit.. Raffa may beyond criticism in the local press but fans are starting to question his tactics.. even in this awful division he’s been responsible for a lot of our dropped points! He needs to pick an attacking settled team and sit down!! Stop trying to tell the players how to kick every ball and trust in their ability and what you have worked together with on the training ground.. you only rarely saw Sir Bobby or Kevin Keegan on the touch line directing players .. they had done their work and had faith in the teams abilitu.

        • Mal

None of us know the physical state/fitness of our players better than the manager and his staff. He’s using the squad and it looks a decent team to me. Whether he plays Diame or Perez seems to attract criticism so it’s lose/lose as far as that position is concerned. HTL

          • Soldier

what a load of krap, they are young fit professionals

    • 1957

Mitrovic (in one of his rare starts) puts in a decent performance and is dropped, Diame and Perez have under performed all season but one or the other is guaranteed a place…if Mitrovic can be written off after 10 minute cameos for most of the season those two should be packing their bags for a new club now.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Mbemba out Lascelles retained, well that`s a f@@king major surprise isn`t it
her`s me thinking it was Lascelles at fault for Leeds goal, or did Chancel wear his F@@k U Rafa T shirt again

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

Watch just how bad Hanley is!!! He’s worse than Kevin Scott by a distance

  • 1957

The Chronicle suggest Benitez has gone for power up front by including Diame, more like giving Ipswich a chance by playing with 10 men or perhaps 9 if Captain Clalamity goes missing again.

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

The chronicle are full of blinkered sycophantic journalists who would drop their guts in the nearest corner if St Raffa farted

      • 1957

I’m just waiting for the ‘I love Rafa, the tactical genius, who always knows best’ brigade to come on here to correct my thinking about SloMo and Jamal

  • LA Toon

Oh well onto the Toon rollercoaster….will listen on the radio until the pub opens at 11am where I can watch the second half then the Huddersfield game. This is an important day as Huddersfield could be 5 points behind with a game in hand. Hopefully not!

    • love toon despite

……..or we win, Huddersfield don’t win and the party is set up for SJP next Monday and I’ll be there!!! I predict 0-2 Toon, Derby/Huddersfield 1-1

  • Sid James

    What a Carry On Lads

    • Jimblag23

      You’re a simple person aren’t you.

  • Damon Horner

Howay the lads! Big three points today.

  • Mrkgw

Hanley for Mbemba is a shocker and can only be as a result of fatigue surely. Lascelles should otherwise have been the player left out. Same with Anita – he had a good game vs Leeds.

  • Mal

Looks a decent team to me. HTL

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

Because you are obviously lacking in basic knowledge

      • Mal

A bit harsh to say that Rafa is lacking in basic knowledge. He tried to make use of the full squad and it came unstuck. That team should have been easily good enough – we were playing a team in the lower half of the Championship not a top PL outfit. Having said that no doubt you are happy that we lost.

        • Anita kick up the Hoop

See how they put it back on supporters rather than Raffa.. this is the price of having an option that goes against the fawning press pack at the chronicle

          • Mal

For whatever reason the players are struggling at the moment and, with 3 games to go, we can either get behind them and drag them over the line or indulge in endless criticism which achieves absolutely nothing at this stage.I’m in the former camp. If you want to criticise it would be better to save it until the season is over. Just my opinion. By the sound of it you’ll be happy if Rafa walks.

          • Anita kick up the Hoop

You are saying pretend you can’t see the state of play ., pretend this hasn’t been a downward spiral for months and blinker yourself to Raffa’s tactical mistakes?
We celebrate Sir Bobby Robson day yesterday . At no stage of his career was he above criticism and rightly so! This phenomenon surrounding Raffa is unhealthy.. he isn’t infallible, he isn’t special and he hasn’t even produced anything in his time here yet (I genuinely hope he goes on to be a massive success) infact he’s failed up to now, that isn’t spite its just a fact! He failed to keep us up, he’s failed to win the championship and his brand of football has failed to dominate a shockingly average division! Again facts.
I wouldnt wish for him to walk BUT I wouldn’t cry if he did .. he’s just a manager not a god .. he has a hell of a lot left to prove here, forget his successes at other clubs for a moment .. here he is still unproven! I hope he is our most successful manager EVER and retires with a sackful of medals he’s won here and a huge statue outside the Raffa Benitez stand BUT at the moment I’m calling it as I see it and I’ll continue to do so.

          • Mal

”You are saying pretend you can’t see the state of play ., pretend this hasn’t been a downward spiral for months and blinker yourself to Raffa’s tactical mistakes?”

No, I’m saying that at this stage you’re doing the team no good. What would be best for the next game. 52000 turning up with your attitude or with mine? Fair enough, you made your point some time ago but it’s time to let go and get behind the team for the last 3 games, unless of course you would rather we fail and you can say ‘I told you so’.

          • Anita kick up the Hoop

Ah right… so when you see trouble coming and people tell you your a whinger and a doom merchant .. then when it comes true and everything you said is born out the same people tell you to get behind the team .. this line has been used since Mckeag was chairman, when Dalglish was ripping Keegan’s squad to shreds, when Souness was doing the same to Bobby Robson’s, when Allerdyce was buying Smith and Gerimi and Joe Kinnear was just being Joe Kinnear … “get behind the team” once everything you said would happen happens.. Pardew thrived off that mentality.. it’s held us back for decades .. well intentioned acceptance of mediocrity in the guise of loyal support .

          • Mal

In none of the cases you mention were we actually on the verge of achieving anything – albeit it’s only promotion from the second tier. We all have our opinions, and I respect yours, but it’s the timing of your criticism that I disagree with. We’ll just have to disagree and you can carry on, though I don’t think at this stage you are helping the cause. I guess we both want the same thing but have different ways of going about it. I’ve criticised the club plenty of times in the past, and will no doubt do so again, but now is not the time.

  • Soldier

strange team selection to say the least

  • TheNutJob

Lascelles left his man again 1-0 down, its on Bein sports

    • Damon Horner

nothing to do with Ritchie being mugged in the centre circle then?

      • TheNutJob

well thats what you have centre backs for isnt it, to mark the guy coming in, jesus

        • Damon Horner

ok mate, Lascelles to blame again then… the lad must have some broad shoulder.s

          • Carlo Ancelotti

the guys useless if you think he isnt you know f@@k all about the game

  • Mrkgw

Dismal showing so far and we really are in danger here. Why so many changes Rafa?

  • TheNutJob

change a team that was playing very well . Oh dear

  • Scottpaige

    We are starting to choke

    • Carlo Ancelotti

tell that to the happy clappers mate

    • Damon Horner

Half time team talk is where Rafa shows his worth.

  • Carlo Ancelotti

Newcastle are all over the place, in the last 10mins they were played off the park

  • Anita kick up the Hoop

Raffa should be held accountable for the series of decisions that have a team built with more resources and a stronger base to work with than any other club in this bang average division limping and scrambling towards promotion .. we are shocking, we have no style of play, no flow, no structure and no class… we have failed to build a foundation this season against dross opposition .. next season IF we reach the premiership will be a massive wake up call to the blinkered core of supporters and sycophantic press who think Raffa is beyond reproach.

  • MadMag83

Utter dogshit first half. This is the same Ipswich we played off the park at SJP. The lack of recruitment in January is starting to show, coupled with some poor team selections from Rafa of late. Could be relying on Huddersfield imploding rather than doing the job ourselves. Hughton must be chuckling in his sleep at the fat man.

  • Damon Horner

Very worrying if we lose this. Still a half of football to go.

  • Jimblag23

There’s no way Mitro and Perez couldn’t have started today!

As the 10th anniversary of Mike Ashley taking control of NUFC looms, here are the stats for NUFC Premier League peformance since 1993 divided into pre-Ashley and during Ashley. Pre-Ashley Newcastle’s mean league ranking was 7.6 with a best ranking of 2nd (twice) and a worst ranking of 14th. During the Ashley era (assuming Newcastle finish 2nd in the second tier this season which is a league ranking of 22) the mean league ranking is 14.9 with a best ranking of 5th and a worst ranking of (two seasons in the second tier). Conclusion, since Ashley took control NUFC have been transformed from top 8 to bottom 6. Factor in the first round exits from (almost) all cup competitions during the past ten years…………………… Happy 10th anniversary Mike

  • Mrkgw

    At last – goal!

  • ToonTom

    1-1 Murphy

  • Mrkgw

That’s Brighton as good as Champions. We can only hope for promotion now.

  • Carlo Ancelotti

Good old Murph, but we need anther

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      another 2

  • Mrkgw

Another goal against. Come on Rafa. What the hell is this?

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

why did he change the defence

      • Mrkgw

Agreed. Mbemba was going well enough and whack, Rafa changes it. Just don’t understand it. Something wrong behind the scenes maybe as we sound lost today.

  • ToonTom

    2-1 Ipswich

  • disqus_KhnZFEY6Z5

There could be six north east derbies in the second tier next season :-)

    • MadMag83

Doesn’t say much for north east football does it

      • disqus_KhnZFEY6Z5

It baffles me why the north east is so unsuccessful. Small clubs with big crowds in the case of Newcastle and Sunderland. The south coast is emerging with Southampton, Bournemouth and Brighton all battling it out next season in the PL.

        • MadMag83

Poor ownership in the case of Newcastle and Hull. Sunderland and Boro have suffered from a lack of investment.

  • MadMag83

    Dummett left his man

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

yes he did but the ball in came from the right once again !!! you could drive a bus through our right

      • MadMag83

Yeah Yedlin isn’t a good defender, better off playing him in home games

        • MichaelMaximusMoose

Lascelles is better off not playing at all

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

we go down here expect Huddersfield to be fired up in the late match

    • Mrkgw

      My thoughts exactly!

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

we`re in trouble if they win

        • Jezza

If Huddersfield win today, I genuinely think it’ll be all over for us.

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

            I cant understand the changes

          • MadMag83

Reading are only 6 points back now.

        • Mrkgw

Absolutely. Has the Rafalution blown itself out? Very very poor.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

why doesn`t he put another striker on

    • steve

Because it isn’t the last 3 minutes yet, Rafa has no plan B whatsoever.

  • ToonTom

It would appear that Ipswich have had two shots on target which – when two goals have gone in – has to be somewhat disappointing. Sigh …

    • MadMag83

Happening to us a lot. Teams are fired up to play us so they raise their game.

  • Leicester Mag

Best performance for months vs Leeds and so we naturally make 5 changes. End result no cohesion. Why??

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      spot on

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

into the last 10 and still no striker on

  • Mrkgw

Not happy at all with Rafa’s selection today. Woeful.

  • Carlo Ancelotti

questions will be asked after this debacle

  • disqus_KhnZFEY6Z5

If Newcastle do finish 3rd the psychological impact will be severe. Possible play off opponents are Sheffield Wed or Fulham. Newcastle have lost home and away against both clubs this season.

    • Jezza

History shows that the team finishing third very seldom wins the play offs. As you say the psychological impact in terms of devastation at just missing out on automatic promotion at the final hurdle is probably the main reason for that.

      • disqus_KhnZFEY6Z5

        Agreed Jezza

    • MadMag83

Be lucky to get third at this rate! Reading 6 points behind and Huddersfield could be 5.

  • Mrkgw

If this lot can’t raise their game at such an important part of the season then we might as well give up. Pathetic.

    • Jezza

Pathetic beyond belief. A second season in the Championship is staring us in the face and it’s no more than the club deserve, from the owner down to the players.

      • Mrkgw

        Have to agree. Absolutely sickening.

  • ToonTom

88 mins gone. Better hope for 5 mins of added time plus a streaker …

  • Jimblag23

Yedlin wasting time after about 10 minutes says it all. Utter sh*t.
I fear it’s all over, we’ve completely bottled it.
Huddersfield will be 2 points behind if they win tonight and also the game in hand.
We’ll lose more on current form.
    We’re f*cked.

  • Mrkgw

Look at the scenes at Brighton. And us hammered.

  • Mrkgw

What have you done Rafa? Consistency is key. Stop tinkering with the side.

  • ToonTom

    3-1

    • Jezza

Where are all those clowns who were on this forum all weekend confidently predicting that we’d thrash Ipswich?

      • 1957

Or the ones who said we were as good as promoted

        • Jezza

Or definitely/already promoted, banging on about Fatman giving Rafa £100 million in the summer to build a team for the Premiership and all that nonsense. Don’t think you’ll bee seeing them on this forum for a while. It’ll just be us “negative nelly/moaning pessimist/doom mongers”.

          • 1957

No they’ll be back saying we’re partly responsible by not being positive

  • CaptainCaveman

    Vintage Newcastle.

  • Leicester Mag

Even by our chocolate box (melt under pressure) reputation this sets a new low. So called pessimists being saying for months all was not well. We are set to become the biggest laughingstock ever. Sorry but Benitez has to take the blame

    • 1957

He has already laid the ground for deflecting criticism, with his comments in January over signings. As the pressure builds he has been found out, he’s been a one trick pony tactically and he has been rumbled

      • Anita kick up the Hoop

True .. I’ve never seen a manager want to direct his players so much in every second of the game BUT take no responsibility for performances or results.. he’s culpable for loosing the league and maybe for missing out on promotion

  • Carlo Ancelotti

Relegation form never mind promotion, pathetic

  • MadMag83

3-1 ffs! Thanks for wasting my afternoon Newcastle. Absolutely pathetic. If Ipswich played like this every week they’d be pushing for promotion. These tactics don’t work when you concede first, need to batter Preston to get that win we need.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

we need more that a win against Preston & you wouldnt put money on the Toon, we need Hudderfield to drop point

      • Jezza

Our only faint lingering hope is that Huddersfield collapse and cave in as badly as we are doing in the closing stages of the season. I just can’t see it happening to be truthful.

  • Mrkgw

Two wins in eight. Say no more.

    • Jezza

Yes Fatman’s decision to withhold all funds for team strengthening in the January window is looking shrewder by the minute.

      • Mrkgw

Fatman will likely get what he deserves and we all in the meantime, suffer at his hands again.

      • steve

Rafa obviously thought the squad was fine if he thinks we can make 5 changes.

      • Marveauxless

Benitez said he only wanted a replacement for Atsu who was at the AFCON and he’s been back in contention for months. We’ve signed twelve players this season, more than any of our promotion rivals. You can’t blame this on Mike Ashley’s transfer policy

        • Jezza

I do blame it on Ashley’s transfer policy. Benitez only said he only wanted one or two players because that’s all Ashley said he could have. In the end Ashley didn’t even allow him that. We signed a lot of dross in the summer, chosen largely I suspect by Carr and passed up on the players we should have had. Hope that £30 million transfer profit is some consolation when we’re playing at Bolton and Fleetwood next season.

          • Marveauxless

That is entirely baseless conjecture, you have no evidence to support any of those claims beyond wishful thinking. Benitez stated time and again that he would only stay if he was given full control of transfers, for what other reason would a manager of Rafa’s calibre stay at a second tier side if he had no control? Greater control was the only prerequisite of Benitez remaining. Few of our signings fit Ashley’s mold of young prospects with resale value. Ashley clearly didn’t say he could only have one player because he didn’t sign any at all

          • Jezza

Believe what you like but if you genuinely believe that Rafa had money to spend but chose not to make any signings in January you are deluded.

          • Anita kick up the Hoop

IF Raffa didn’t sign players and then proceed to keep them as far away From match day squads as possible you would have a point .. but Raffa has wasted his budget and already has the biggest squad in the division but January.. with players out on loan it’s a massive squad

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

the pray mats out for the Huddersfield game

    • 1957

The only way we will avoid the playoffs is Huddersfield dropping points, we’ll not get to 92…

  • ToonTom

We now have to win our two home games and draw at Cardiff and we can’t be caught. That said, who would put any money on that right now?
There is a danger (depending upon Huddersfield’s results) that we could manage the double ‘bottle’ (1996, 2017). Let’s hope we sort this out but right now, who’d bet on us?

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      not me

    • CaptainCaveman

I’m not convinced we’ll win another.

    • Jezza

I’ve never felt fully confident we’d go up at any time this season. I have never had the same feeling I had in 83/84, 92/93 or 09/10. This season has felt a lot more like 89/90 when we were in the promotion running all season long but just not quite good enough in the end to get over the proverbial line.

    • dillon

never bet on nufc you always lose

  • CaptainCaveman

I hope nobody put a deposit down on that plane, it’s looking likely that we’ll be playing the [email protected] next season.

  • TheNutJob

    Huddersfield are one up

    • Jezza

It’s all over. Prepare yourselves for a second season in the Championship.

      • TheNutJob

        the Rafalutions dead

        • Jezza

Yes, he’ll be gone before long. Let’s face it he has got far too good a pedigree to be languishing in the second tier of English football and he isn’t going to be short of better offers.

        • 1957

          It was always a myth

  • Jimblag23

This is the first time I haven’t blindly bummed everything Rafa has done.
But today’s team selection was abysmal.
    Was Mbemba too tired? Impossible.
Could Perez and Mitro not have started? Obviously they could.
Keep some consistency for gods sake.
The players performance was pathetic. We’ve completely bottled this.
I’ll put money on us finishing third.
Today was a must win so there is nothing to say we won’t bottle the play offs against much better teams than Ipswich.
    Yay chumpionship again next year.
    We deserve it.

    • Jimblag23

      1-0 to Huddersfield

      • Jezza

Yes and they won’t bottle it and gift the opposition a cheap and easy equaliser either. They will kill the game off in a way we are incapable of doing.

        • Jimblag23

          😭!

  • ToonTom

Maybe (just maybe) the pressure of Huddersfield actually breathing down our necks will awaken us for the last 3 games? Maybe we need them to be 2 points behind us when we play Preston to actually galvanise us.

    • Jimblag23

You’re a better man than me cos my spirit is completely flattened.

      • Jezza

Agreed. I can see this pathetic shower getting turned over by Preston.

    • CaptainCaveman

I like your optimism. If the remaining games involve Diame and Lascelles starting then I don’t see us getting out of this. Diame wouldn’t get a game for West Allotment.

There’s no way we’d win the playoffs.

      • Jezza

We are going to get stuffed in the play off semi finals.

  • dillon

AT least we’ll be playing 4 derby matches next season

  • ToonTom

You have to smile at Huddersfield’s goal – borderline offside but given (anyone remember Ritchie’s ‘winner’ at Birmingham?), followed immediately by a Derby ‘equiliser’ – Hope Springs Eternal! – only for Bent to inevitably be offside.

    • Scottpaige

We can moan all day about the likes of that. Top and bottom of it is we ain’t good enough

      • Jezza

Taken you long enough to realise what us “moaning doom mongers” have been saying all along.

        • Scottpaige

Not a case of not seeing it just didn’t want to believe it. I love my football and this club. I hate to see it and the way we are. I try my best to see positives if possible bigger picture and all that…….. If you want to rub it in with told you so then fine. I always believe we would have enough to get up even if we crawled over the line. Never expected to walk the league

  • Mrkgw

Has Rafa lost his players belief? Something clearly not right at the club.

    • 1957

Maybe it a simple as teams working out how to play against our only tactic and Rafa being too stubborn,or unable, to change

  • Mrkgw

    Come on Derby.

  • Mrkgw

Rafa needs to drop Lascelles, Darlow, Yedlin, Atsu and Diame. Time to give Elliott his chance.

    • 1957

You might have a chance with the middle 3 but Captain Calamity and SloMo are virtually guaranteed starters in RafaWorld regardless of form

    • Jimblag23

Darlow is a great shot stopper but give him a second to think about something and he often F’s up.
Not that we’ll be there but you can’t have that in the prem. (or the championship as we’ve found out)
Lascelles brewing made captain was number 1 pivotal mistake of the year, followed by Jonjos indiscretion.
Then we have Ashley not backing Rafa in Jan followed up by the Aston Villa game.
If we’d have given Gayle a few more weeks recovery things may be different.
I know hindsight is a beautiful thing but for me those are the four key moments that bring us here.

      • Jezza

If we’d signed a replacement for Gayle in January when he was already injured things might have been different. We have gone through this whole season with just one top striker on our books and he’s only played 5 or 6 games since Christmas.

  • ToonTom

Further to my earlier comment, I’ve just noticed that Ipswich had the sum of 3 shots on target today. Oh, and scored 3 goals.

  • hetonmag

Got to admit I am one of the happy clappers that has backed Rafa to the hilt but after the result today to say I’m a little worried would be an understatement. Even one of our most reliable players Ritchie had a poor game. And to make matters even worse Huddersfield’s goal was offside.

    • 1957

      Welcome to the club

    • love toon despite

In Rafa you trust……..??? In Rafa I’m bored

Fair enough but we are still second.

In a dreadful league playing dreadful football

  • magpiefifer

This is a scenario I have been dreading since Ashley refused to let Rafa strengthen/freshen the squad in January.Huddersfield have that key element – momentum,as well as luck!
Not sure that we can get ‘over the line’, given our inability to score goals – and to stop conceding them.I fear the worst!

When was the last season where we weren’t sweating buckets until the last 2-3 matches? I’ve forgotten those mid-table, aimless Saturday afternoons when you could sit back and watch someone else’s misery unfold.

    • Jezza

Don’t worry we’ll have those afternoons again this time next year when we’re mid table in the Championship.

  • Jimblag23

Rafa kept talking about the 7 games in April.
How have we done? F*cking sh*t.

I have not seen the game but am wondering which players have scored more than 5 with the fans marks?

  • Mrkgw

Don’t be surprised to see Pardew back. Second coming might be right around the corner……careful what we wish for.

    • Jezza

It has seemed inevitable for some time that Pardew will be coming back to replace Rafa in the summer. It has been on the cards ever since Pardew’s sacking by Palace followed by Rafa’s obvious upset at not being allowed to sign any players in January.

      • Mrkgw

Yep, can definitely see it Jezza.

      • Albert Stubbins

NOT a chance in Hell. If that happens it just proves that my life has been one long dream after all!! to any jean paul satre fans out there- I salute you!!

  • ToonTom

Five minutes left at Derby and it just seems so easy for Huddersfield. Do we expect them to implode in added time? Hmmm …

  • ToonTom

    Yesssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ToonTom

    1-1!

  • ToonTom

Brighton go up, now it’s time for us to sort ourselves out!

  • Albert Stubbins

yedlin makes wayne ferraday seem like ryan giggs!!

  • love toon despite

Congratulations to Brighton and particularly to Chris Hughton

    • Mrkgw

      Agreed.

    • ToonTom

Absolutely – what an amazing achievement after last season’s disappointment. What a top bloke too!

      • Jezza

One of the best. Very pleased for him.

Another example of sloppy journalism at the Ronnie Gill:
“5 points required for NUFC. A loss for Huddersfield against Fulham means NUFC are effectively up if they win on Monday.” Seriously, what are these people reading in the league table? Clearly, NUFC would definitely be up in this scenario. A draw between Huddersfield and Fulham, followed by a victory for Newcastle at home to Preston would mean that we were *effectively* up.
Anyway, all eyes now on Leeds Road on Saturday. As long as Huddersfield don’t win, we will finally have it in our hands to end this misery and ‘get over the line’!

    • Albert Stubbins

They should give serious consideration to signing up Carol Vorderman for next season!! Plus she’s better looking than Gibbo.
