The Newcastle team v Burton has just been announced.

Rafa Benitez making 3 changes from the side that won against Wigan.

A number of surprises…

Chancel Mbemba gets a shock recall in place of Grant Hanley, with Rafa seemingly realising that playing two very slow central defenders in Lascelles and Hanley was too big a risk.

Christian Atsu replaces Gouffran on the left, whilst Diame drops back alongside Shelvey in place of Colback, with Perez taking the role behind Gayle.

Isaac Hayden is missing altogether from the squad, as is Jack Colback, presumably injuries…?

On the bench as well we see Mitrovic disappearing but Murphy back involved.

Sammy Ameobi and Massadio Haidara are two coming in from out of he wilderness to grab a place on the bench.

Newcastle United:

Darlow, Anita, Lascelles, Mbemba, Dummett, Ritchie, Shelvey,  Diame, Atsu, Perez, Gayle

Subs:

Elliot, Gamez, Haidara, Hanley, Gouffran, Ameobi, Murphy

Compare it to this predicted team that went up earlier.

Wow! Presumably this is a make or break game for Chancel. I`ve got to say it`s not before time, in my opinion, but I`d love to know why he`s been out in the cold so long. Triple M`ll be turning somersaults and actually saying nice things!!

    4-4-2. Wow! ?

  • rory

Finally Mbemba starts. Over the moon. Slightly worried though because no Hayden in the squad. No Mitro either. Still, it’s an improvement from the last game in my opinion.

Not a bad line up, dropping Diame deep may help the lad out as he`s no Number 10
Hayden must be getting kept back for Saturday

  • Taz

Only a thought, Maybe should of dropped lascelles and played hanley instead as his head was up his ars3 last game. Time will tell, glad colback is out though htl

As a long suffering fan from far far away all I need to know is
    1. Was it really 4-4-2 tonight ?
    2. How was Mbemba tonight ?
    3. Were we all over them or was it another nervy performance once again ?
