Another Fergie time disaster at Ipswich 3 Newcastle 1

It’s football not rugby lads…

I started writing this at half-time of the Ipswich 3 Newcastle 1 away game (watching at home not at the game…), having watched yet another goal conceded shortly before half/full-time.

How many times has this happened this season, conceding either just before the half or in the last few minutes of full time? Here goes:

Aug – Huddersfield (H) Wells 45+1

Aug – Reading (H) McCleary 45

Sep – Villa (A) Tshibola 88

Sep – Norwich (H) Dorrans 44

Oct – Preston (A) OG Lascelles 90

Dec – Forest (A) OG Lascelles 86

Jan – Birmingham (A Cup) Jutkiewicz 42

Jan – Oxford (A Cup) Hemmings 46, Lopez 87

Feb – QPR (H) Washington 44, OG Clark 90

April – Leeds (H) Wood 90+5

April – Ipswich (A) Sears 43, Huws 90+3

I’ve heard of “Fergie Time” but this is ridiculous, concentrate for the whole game not 40 mins per half. How many points has this cost us so far this season?!?!

In my last article I fancied a 2-0 win at Ipswich with Murphy getting both.

At least Murphy scored when given the service, which was in scarce supply today despite two wingers.

As for the result I’d still rather be in our position than in third but we’ve gone into reverse lately whereas Brighton are in cruise control – 9 out of 9 points but we’ve collected 1 out of 9 so fair play to them, they deserve the title.

Will we stumble to automatic promotion?

I still think so, although I’m certain Derby will roll over at home to Huddersfield (ED: Huddersfield leading 1-0 after half an hour).

Perhaps Sky will rearrange the fixtures again for broadcasting to put even more pressure on us…
