The PFA Championship team of the year produced an interesting reaction on Thursday when it was announced.
All of the eleven players came from clubs in the top seven.
With four from Brighton, three from Newcastle, two from Fulham and one each provided by Huddersfield and Leeds.
David Stockdale (Brighton)
Lewis Dunk (Brighton)
Jamaal Lascelles (Newcastle)
Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham)
Tom Cairney (Fulham)
Anthony Knockaert (Brighton)
Aaron Mooy (Huddersfield)
Jonjo Shelvey (Newcastle)
Dwight Gayle (Newcastle)
Chris Wood (Leeds United)
Talking about the selection on The Mag last night, Jonathan Drape-Comyn wrote about how maybe the PFA choice of team isn’t really based on the best evidence.
Whilst it is the actual players doing the voting, Jonathan pointed out that the voting process starts as early as January and there is the fact that when most Championship matches are happening, the players/voters are busy playing themselves – so how much do they actually see of the other players beyond when they play them once or twice?
Plenty was said about the eleven selected and the three Newcastle players were commented on, one in particular…
However, what do Newcastle fans really think?
We’re asking you to pick below the three Newcastle players (the choice was narrowed down to the 16 who have started at least 10 Championship matches this season) you would have put forward for this PFA Championship team of the year?
