After not playing a first team game for some 16 months, Tim Krul is certainly seeing plenty of action at AZ Alkmaar.

Arriving for his loan spell at the end of January after Ajax decided not to play him, AZ made the Newcastle keeper their number one until the end of the season.

A rocky start for both him and his temporary club saw AZ win only one of the first six games featuring Tim Krul.

There was then some respite when Krul turned hero when saving the crucial spot-kick in a penalty shootout against Dutch second tier side Cambuur, which sent AZ into the domestic cup final.

This had followed a humiliating 11-2 aggregate defeat to Lyon as the Dutch club crashed out of the Europa League.

Sunday saw Tim Krul and his loan club visit league leaders Feyenoord and it wasn’t pleasant viewing, Newcastle’s one-time Champions League opponents smashing AZ 5-2 and sending them into sixth place in the table.

With only one win in nine games in normal time, it has been tough going for Krul, and he has now conceded 22 goals in only five weeks.

The footage from the Feyenoord is below and Tim Krul won’t want to be watching the embarrassing part he played for the fifth goal.

Tim Krul’s nine matches at AZ Alkmaar so far:

4 February – AZ 2 PSV 4

12 February – Heerenveen 1 AZ 2

16 February – AZ 1 Lyon 4

19 February – Willem ll 1 AZ 1

23 February – Lyon 7 AZ 1

26 February – AZ 1 PEC Zwolle 1

2 March – AZ 0 Cambuur 0 (AZ win 3-2 on penalties)

5 March – AZ 1 Excelsior 1

12 March – Feyenoord 5 AZ 2

Go to 1.15 if you want to go straight to that fifth goal howler from Tim Krul.
