Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that there will be no further ticket allocation given to Newcastle fans for the upcoming match.

Moved to a 5.30 kick-off for TV, the game at Hillsborough will take place on Saturday 8 April.

Originally, Newcastle were handed a very disappointing 2,350 tickets for the game, with the likes of Leeds United having previously being handed 4,600 earlier in the season.

Newcastle United later stated that it had been South Yorkshire Police who’d imposed the restricted allocation on this occasion.

Later, another 750 tickets were allocated, bringing up the number to 3,100, still nowhere near enough to satisfy demand but an improvement.

Monday morning though has seen Sheffield Wednesday confirm that this is Newcastle’s lot.

The Owls stating that the Leppings Lane end will have home supporters occupying it, rather than allocating it to Newcastle.

Official Sheffield Wednesday announcement:

‘The Owls will be backed from all four sides of Hillsborough against Newcastle in the upcoming Championship clash as the bottom tier of the West Stand will house home supporters.

Wednesday face the Magpies in front of the Sky cameras on Saturday 8 April (5.30pm) in a game that could have a big say on the promotion shake-up.

Hillsborough is set to host one of the highest crowds of the season and tickets for the Lower West, set at Kop prices, are now on general sale to Wednesdayites who have a purchase history with the club since 2009.

Season Ticket holders can exchange their seats to this area of the stadium if they wish but must do so in person at the Ticket Office or by telephone.’
