The results of the Newcastle v Birmingham player ratings by fans.
For the second time in three matches Newcastle failed to score a goal and this became the first occasion this season that Rafa Benitez has seen his side go three games without a win.
Nevertheless, defeats for Brighton and Huddersfield saw this weekend as a point advantage for NUFC as we edge towards the finishing line.
What about the individuals in the team though, how did they each get on?
When giving their marks out of 10, Newcastle supporters have roughly divided the team in half – five players getting ok/average marks and then six who were rated below par.
Man of the match was Matt Ritchie (7.0), an energetic performance that saw a goal wrongly disallowed for offside and the Birmingham keeper produce a fine save to stop Ritchie winning it for United in the second half.
Next best was Grant Hanley (6.4) who came in and did a decent job in helping to keep a clean sheet, both Karl Darlow (6.2) and Paul Dummett (6.2) also credited with their part in bringing home a point.
A little bit isolated and only Matt Ritchie helping him out to any great extent, Daryl Murphy (6.3) was the only other one to score 6.0 or better.
Bottom marks were given to Mohamed Diame (4.0) who dropped back into Jonjo Shelvey’s role but continued his poor form.
Not much better were Vurnon Anita (4.3) and Yoan Gouffran (4.4) who are now looking less effective than their steady performances earlier in the season.
The centre of midfield was poor and Jack Colback (5.1) yet again disappointed, whilst Ayoze Perez (5.6) rarely made an impression and Jamaal Lascelles (5.6) looked less than confident at times as both captain and in defence.
