Reports today that Mickael Nade is expected to join Newcastle in the summer.

The young French defender’s style has been likened to Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma, he also played for St Etienne before moving to England in January 2014 for £12m as a 19 year old.

Mickael Nade is yet to play for the first team but has impressed in the St Etienne second string and only turned 18 on the 4 March.

The French reports say Newcastle hope to land the player on a decent deal as his current contract ends in the summer, with only development compensation to be paid.

As well as the high profile 12 summer 2016 signings that he made, Rafa Benitez has repeatedly gone overseas to bring in a host of young players from overseas as the season has progressed.

Victor Fernandez was the latest of those and the 18 year old attacker was fast forwarded straight into the reserve team set-up at St James Park and has impressed.

As the summer gets ever nearer, transfer rumours are also going to accelerate.

With Newcastle set to see yet another busy summer for Rafa Benitez, in terms of players in and out.

Nice one, we have a great track record recruiting from Ligue 1.

    • TheNutJob

we certainly have, they are all on loan

  • Wor Lass

It would make a pleasant change if we saw more of these “promising” youngsters (“Wonderkids” in the local rags!) feed through to the first team for a change instead of going out on loan and disappearing off the face of the earth.

Maybe it should read “Graham Carr will recruit”

        Smacks of a Carr signing…

        • Damon Horner

It does, but we can’t let the Graham Carr experience taint every name in the French, Dutch and Belgian leagues for us surely.

One for the future…. bet Rafa won’t be here after May?!
