Birmingham 0 Newcastle 0 – Saturday 18 March 2007 3pm

Despite the draw, Newcastle United edged another point clear of Huddersfield and Brighton this weekend.

All three automatic promotion chasers failed to score a goal but fortunately a Karl Darlow clean sheet ensured United extended their lead.

Should it have been a three point gap to second and nine points to third though?

Rafa Benitez and his players were certain that Matt Ritchie’s ‘goal’ should have stood – judge for yourself in these highlights.

Some impressive saves from the home keeper as well, although Birmingham had a few more opportunities than some reports suggested.
