It was the Victor Fernandez and Haris Vuckic show earlier this Monday afternoon.

The Newcastle United pair combining to guide NUFC to a four goal victory over Bristol City.

Signed from Spanish third tier club UE Cornella only last month, the 18 year old has been instantly fast-tracked into the Under 23s (reserve) team set-up, suggesting he is more advanced than the other five teenagers Rafa Benitez has recruited from overseas this season.

The Newcastle’s Under 23s were in Premier League Cup action this afternoon at Whitley Park.

Victor Fernandez was a constant threat with his pace and ability to run with the ball, whilst Haris Vuckic always looked as though he would get on the scoresheet.

After dominating the first half, the pair combined seconds before the half-time break, Victor Fernandez’ clever run into the box ending with an assist as Vuckic beat the keeper.

After waiting a whole half for the first goal, it only took second after the restart for the second. Another great run from Fernandez ended up with him firing home for his first goal in Newcastle’s colours.

Just under 10 minutes into the second half it was three, Victor Fernandez once again the supplier from the left hand side and Haris Vuckic the beneficiary with his second goal.

Both Vuckic and Fernandez went close to scoring a fourth but it was Jamie Holmes who eventually managed that in the closing stages of the game.
