Surprise promotion odds as bookies react to Newcastle, Brighton & Huddersfield results
Interesting to see the promotion odds after this weekend’s games in the Championship.
Things went in Brighton’s favour as Newcastle & Huddersfield could only draw, whilst Reading find themselves now down in fifth after Leeds win and their own defeat against Chris Hughton’s team.
With only four points from the last 15, Reading appear to have crumbled under the pressure, whilst overall it is now definitely looking a three horse race for top spot and the automatic promotion places.
Saturday’s results and the new look Championship table:
Barnsley 1 Huddersfield 1
Brighton 3 Reading 0
Leeds 1 Sheff Wed 0
The odds below are the best on offer for each team from the various bookies, with interestingly Newcastle still seen as favourites with 13 matches to go.
A win for Brighton on Tuesday night would almost certainly see them replace Newcastle as favourites in both lists but a draw or win for the Magpies would cement their place as favourites.
Huddersfield have a cup replay against Man City and don’t play again until facing Newcastle on Saturday, so they would be the big beneficiaries of a draw – though of course they can’t really lose as at least one of the top two must drop points.
The big interest of course will be how the odds look next Saturday night, with Brighton away at Forest before NUFC take on Huddersfield in that live teatime match.
