Sunderland fans discuss whether Newcastle will get promotion – Amusing

Interesting to see what Sunderland fans are making of Newcastle United’s season so far and what is likely to happen over the course  of the final 14 matches.

With only one position currently separating the two north east clubs, those on Wearside are still desperately hoping for NUFC’s season to falter.

Some Sunderland fans dream of another ’12 points clear’ style collapse, whilst others are already jumping forward and counting on Newcastle failing miserably in the Premier League next season.

Many assured that Rafa Benitez will ‘bottle it’ or not even reach the first game after clashing with Mike Ashley.

Enjoy.

Comments from Sunderland fans via their top message board ready to go:

‘Those that cling to the hope they (Newcastle) don’t get promoted must be the same people who hope the credit card bill doesn’t arrive.

7 wins out of their last 14 will get them 90 pts which has guaranteed promotion since the 2nd flight went to 24 teams in 1996.’

‘Whilst I think they are nailed on, it’s not set in stone just yet.’

‘The Vermin have a home banker v Bristol City then have 3 away games v the sides in 2nd 3rd and 4th . Could be squeaky bum time.’

‘Wasn’t it Newcastle who were 12 points ahead, in the league at this point, and completely f***ed it up.’

‘I still maintain that was as much an astonishing run of results by Man Utd as it was a f*** up by the Mags.’

‘Highly unlikely but the Mags may get twitchy if they lose a few of their tough away run.’

‘Third biggest points total after 32 games in the history of the division but none of them are good enough for the Premier league? Bollocks.

They’ll be fine if they inject quality with a centre half, left back, midfielder and forward.’

Newcastle were 9 points clear of third place just 6 weeks ago ….defeats at Brighton, Huddersfield & Reading could be catastrophic for Newcastle.’

‘Sadly they are the best away from home. Would have preferred those games to be at the the mags. Let’s not forget not only do Newcastle have to lose some games but the others have to keep winning.’

‘Bristol were 3 nowt up at Derby the other week no walk over.’

‘The mags are trundling to promotion. Interesting summer ahead and interesting to see how much money Ashley stumps up as Benitez will want a lot.’

‘I have to say Sutton looked a cut above Newcastle and Villa. The championship games I’ve watched have made our worst performances look decent.’

‘The fact they get higher crowds in the championship with Rafa than in the prem with schteeve is weird like.’

‘All jokes aside and I hate them, but you can’t knock them for their numbers support wise.

Just need to look at the number of clubs who go down and struggle, yet the last twice they have gone down they’ve took it in their stride and looked as realistically comfortable as you can tbh and will come back up with games to spare.

Right I’m off for a wash now.’

‘Would we get over 35k for a Monday night game in the championship?’

‘All depends how we’re doing in the league surely. They look like winning pretty much every game, so if we do as well as they’re doing in the championship, there’s no reason why not.

No doubt our average will drop if/when we go down, but for me, I go to watch and support sunderland, not who we’re playing. That’ll be the same for probably 25k other die hards.’

‘Imagine next season when we’re fighting relegation from the Championship and the Mag relegation scrap that we’re certain of doesn’t transpire and they’re comfortably mid-table…’

‘They’re honking, have a cheque book manager who is a bottle job and an owner not prepared to throw big money at a premier league team.’

Newcastle fans won’t be happy just being back, they see it as right to not only be in that division but to be competing.’

With a back line of yedlin, Clarke, lascelles and dummet there’s only one place Newcastle are gannin.’

‘However good or bad they are they’ve conceded the least goals in the 2nd division which means the other promoted teams defences will fare worse.

Everyone knows (even they do I presume) they’ll start relegation candidates but I think they’ll have enough.

Then again this is the first season in a good few years where I thought we wouldn’t struggle.’

‘Typical Bruce. A winless run starts and he has no idea how to turn it around, even with the most expensive team in the Championship.’

‘Top Quality manager.

Rafa Beaneathus.’

‘One thing is for sure, had they not retained Benitez as manager on relegation and/or performed like say Villa from the start of this season, the true fans would have regularly numbered 30,000’

‘They have 40,000+ season ticket holders apparently so even if nobody else bought a match day ticket and not one away fan turned up the average would be that.’

‘Atmosphere there was sh*te tonight…barely sang even when winning.

Cheer up Steve Bruce and some very muted hero worship of fat Rafa.’

‘50m to 100m is what’s needed to keep Newcastle up.

With a bloated championship squad with lads that will be on big money and very hard to shift, there’ll be a battle between the two fat lads, Ashley and the waiter. I know who my money is on.’

‘Wait till Rafa skulks off when Fat Mike shows him who is really boss.’

‘Benitez took Newcastle down, drawing with us, Villa and losing to Norwich in the process. He won’t be much better. He’s a bottler.’

‘Tbf we’ve missed the mags in the league. They usually gift us enough points to stay up.’

‘That league is utter f***ing sh*t. Them being top proves it as they’re sh*te. We’ve got a better side, comfortably so as well.’

‘The only good thing about this result is Bruce and Villa being closer to relegation.’

‘They have quality support in terms of numbers, why anyone argues otherwise with them is beyond me, plenty of others things to batter them with.’
