After Newcastle’s draw with Aston Villa, all eyes were on Brighton.

They were the 5.30pm kick-off on Sky Sports, playing at home to Reading.

Newcastle came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Bristol City, whilst Huddersfield led 1-o with an 18th minute goal.

They battered Barnsley but a 75th minute equaliser denied Huddersfield a seventh Championship win in a row.

Brighton scored in the 35th, 56th and 80th minutes for a 3-0 victory, the silver lining is that Reading are surely out of the running for automatic promotion with only one victory throughout February, four points from a possible 15.

Saturday 25 February results:

Barnsley 1 Huddersfield 1

Brighton 3 Reading 0

Leeds 1 Sheff Wed 0

Newcastle 2 Bristol City 2

The results leave the table looking like this:

Huddersfield don’t have a midweek match due to their FA Cup replay and so after Newcastle’s trip to Brighton on Tuesday night, NUFC will travel to Huddersfield with the potential of going 11 points clear of third (having then played a game more than Huddersfield), though that would depend on the small matter of winning away at the clubs who are currently first and third in the Championship.
