The Rafa Benitez Brighton Press Conference has taken place on Monday lunchtime.

The eve of a game which could prove pivotal in the jostling for promotion and ending up as champions.

The United boss confirmed that Brighton would be too early for Dwight Gayle, though he insists that the striker is ‘improving’ all the time in training.

Asked about unlikely sounding weekend claims of upcoming £30m a year offers to manage in China, Rafa said that this was news to him.

With it being the two top clubs and promotion favourites meeting, the Manager was asked if this was the biggest game of the season.

However, once again Rafa pointed out that whatever happens in the meantime, with seven games scheduled for April he feels that it will be then when any issues are decided, for better or worse.

Though Benitez did accept that ‘on paper’ you could say Tuesday night’s match is the biggest of the season.

Always glass half full an supportive of his players, Rafa Benitez preferred to concentrate on the positives from the Bristol City match, saying the ‘reaction was so good’.

First quotes from the Rafa Benitez Brighton Press Conference:

“In April we have seven games to play, and I think that will be the crucial month.

Chris Hughton is doing a great job, and he has a very good team.

“Dwight is still improving but not ready for this (Brighton) game.

“We know that we made some mistakes the other day but the reaction was so good – you have to think about the positives.

“We are training well and we will stick together and help each other.”
