The Rafa Benitez Aston Villa Press Conference has taken place on Monday lunchtime.

The Newcastle Manager has confirmed that Dwight Gayle is in full training and in line to start on Monday night.

Vurnon Anita has also started training again but far too soon for him to be involved.

On the downside, shock news that Isaac Hayden is going to be missing for around a month.

Rada confirming that the ankle problem the midfielder has been carrying hasn’t cleared up and he’s had an operation.

The next seven games end with an away match at Birmingham on Saturday 18 March, after that there is a two week international gap.

So realistically, Wigan at home on 1 April is hopefully when we will see Hayden back.

The Newcastle boss also gave his support to Arsene Wenger who finds himself under pressure, though Rafa keen to rubbish the fanciful stories of him taking over at the Emirates.

First quotes from the Rafa Benitez Aston Villa Press Conference:

We have a lot of players coming back. Gayle has been training and Anita has been training today so we have more or less everybody fit.

We are talking about a club (Villa) that has done well in their history. They have good players and an experienced manager.

“Some people think that if you spend money you will do well but for me it (Aston Villa) has proved how difficult the Championship is.”
