Newcastle 1 Derby 0 – Saturday 4 February 2017 3pm

Newcastle looked a team with a point to prove after Wednesday night’s disappointing result and performance against QPR.

A first half saw United dominate and whilst going in 1-0 up at the break, they should in reality have been two or three goals to the good and have had the match won

A more even second half had Newcastle still creating chances but in the later stages Derby threatened as well.

These official video highlights of the game also include a quite amazing decision by the match officials, in amongst a season that has been full of them.

In the later stages Ayoze Perez is sent clear by Jonjo Shelvey and last man Scott Carson races 20 yards outside the box and scythes down the Newcastle player.

The only decision the referee had to make was whether any defender had got close enough to turn an obvious red card into a fortunate yellow one…the ref didn’t even give a free-kick!!

Watch the highlights below and judge for yourself.
