Mondays have become a little bit too ridiculous for Newcastle fans

For Newcastle fans, just like any other set of supporters, getting the Monday night TV slot is surely the lowest of the low.

Playing 5.30pm on Saturdays makes for a very decent day out, whilst in the Premier League that 4pm Sunday is also pretty good.

Friday night is ok, unless a stupid distance away, whilst Saturday and Sunday lunchtime kick-offs are tolerable but leave an awful lot of drinking time afterwards…

Back to Monday nights though and they are generally quite desperate, your weekend is long gone and most of us have had to be in at work all day before the match, then facing the same thing Tuesday after the game.

What I hadn’t quite appreciated though was just how desperate the actual football had been for Newcastle fans on Mondays (odd daytime kick-offs included).

When I started checking back through, the results from Mondays past are horrendous.

It is 2012 since Newcastle last won one, beating Wigan 3-0 at St James Park, having lost the next 11 Monday matches.

It is even worse when you consider that the last eight also saw Newcastle fail to even score a goal. It being the 3-2 defeat back in 2013 at Goodison Park when NUFC last managed a goal on a Monday.

That record reading:

Played 8 Won 0 Drawn 0 Lost 8 Goals Scored 0 Goals Conceded 12

The last 12 Monday results for Newcastle:

Monday 2 January 2017 Blackburn 1 Newcastle 0

Monday 26 December 2016 Newcastle 0 Sheffield Wednesday 1

Monday 14 March 2016 Leicester 1 Newcastle 0

Monday 28 December 2015 West Brom 1 Newcastle 0

Monday 14 September 2015 West Ham 2 Newcastle 0

Monday 13 April 2015 Liverpool 2 Newcastle 0

Monday 29 September 2014 Stoke 1 Newcastle 0

Monday 28 April 2014 Arsenal 3 Newcastle 0

Monday 30 September 2013 Everton 3 Newcastle 2

Monday 19 August 2013 Manchester City 4  Newcastle 0

Monday 10 December 2012 Fulham 2 Newcastle 1

Monday 3 December 2012 Newcastle 3 Wigan 0

Time for a change tonight!
