A list of the top paid individuals at every Premier League club has just been published and it includes two one-time Newcastle players.
The full list of players for the 20 clubs is below but have a think on who the two PL clubs are and the identity of the former NUFC players, before you look.
Amongst the observations I would make, apart from of course just how mad the figures are in general, is that the top four paid players on this list – Rooney, Aguero, Toure and Fabregas, none of them have been automatic first choice all this season, some more than others.
Of course, there are also the stand out figures whereby Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough and Watford are paying at least £100,000 a week to one or more of their players.
If Newcastle do go up, this gives us all a real idea of some of the challenges that could lie ahead in terms of competing and even just surviving.
List compiled by The Mail:
As you can see, the two clubs were West Ham and Southampton, with Andy Carroll and Fraser Forster the two Newcastle players.
I must admit that whilst I got Carroll straight away, I did have a fair few guesses before getting the other.
The likes of Cabaye, Janmaat, Wijnaldum, Townsend and our old friend Sissoko, all flashing through my head.
