Set to walk out at Old Trafford tonight is Newcastle United’s Henri Saivet.
The midfielder is out on loan at St Etienne for the season and this is an unexpected bonus for the former Bordeaux player.
If the Ligue 1 club get past Manchester United they will be in the last 16 of the Europa League.
Barring last minute injuries, Henri Saivet looks sure to play (8.05pm kick-off), he and his team in good form as they beat Lorient 4-0 on Sunday and now standing fifth in the table.
Only one place and one point ahead of St Etienne in domestic football are Lyon.
They travel to AZ Alkmaar tonight (6pm kick-off) and with the regulations allowing up to three extra players to be registered for the Europa League before this round, Tim Krul has been added to Eredivisie club’s European squad.
Tim Krul played in the 2-1 league win at Heerenveen on Sunday and will be hopeful of keeping his run of games going.
After a wasted first half of the season at Ajax without even getting on the first team bench, the Newcastle keeper is looking to make the most of his opportunity at AZ.
If he plays, this will be Tim Krul’s first European game since 11 April 2013.
Newcastle faced Benfica in the last eight of the Europa League at St James Park.
The first game had finished 3-1 to Benfica but with 20 minutes to go, Papiss Cisse scored to give Newcastle hope, just one more goal would have sent NUFC through on away goals.
A great team performance but it wasn’t to be, Benfica actually scoring themselves in the closing stages to ensure there would be no European semi-final for Newcastle.
Good luck to the two Newcastle players tonight.
