Rolando Aarons has given a video update from Italy of his progress in recovering from the freak ACL injury he suffered in training on his 21st birthday.

The video update below suggests that he is making outstanding progress (though obviously nowhere near making a playing comeback) considering it is less than two months since suffering the injury in November.

Only a week ago Rolando Aarons posted this message to Newcastle fans on Tuesday 3 January:

“One day I will put all these years of not doing what I love behind me and become what I believe I can be.

“Miss being out there!

“Sick of talking about injuries and recovery etc but in a very good place at the minute spiritually and mentally.”

As for why Rolando Aarons is in Italy under the watchful eye of Professor Mariani Villa Stuart, the Newcastle Manager recently explained.

Rafa Benitez:

“I have been in contact with Rolando. The operation was really good.

“We had experience when I was at Napoli. I spoke to our doctor and we had two or three different options, but because this surgeon is good with Italian players, I had Lorenzo Insigne who had an operation there and he did really well.

“We knew it could be an option and we spoke about the techniques.

“We found the best solution for the player and we try to get him recovered as soon as possible.”
