Speaking to BBC Sport, Mark Lawrenson has given his prediction for Birmingham v Newcastle this afternoon.

The FA Cup third round match has a 3pm kick-off, with Newcastle looking to reach the fourth round for the first time since 2012.

Michael Owen has already predicted a win for the Magpies and Mark Lawrenson agrees.

The BBC pundit has gone for a 2-0 away win with Gianfranco Zola finding it tough since he took over at Birmingham, with three defeats in four games so far.

Lawrenson predicts the possibility of a Newcastle/Sunderland meeting in the fourth round, as he has gone for a 1-0 win for the Mackems who are home to Burnley.

Mark Lawrenson:

“Birmingham have taken only one point from four league games since Gianfranco Zola took over as manager.

“I think their poor form will continue against Newcastle in the pick of the all-Championship ties.”

Mark Lawrenson:

“Sunderland will be weakened because they have a shortage of fit players but I can see Burnley resting a few, so the Black Cats might just squeak through.”
