Gianfranco Zola has held his press conference on Friday afternoon ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup game.
Zola saying that ‘Newcastle will be a strong team for sure’.
The Birmingham boss expects to make no more that two or three changes and ‘will go strong to try and win’.
It is only four weeks ago when the two teams met at St James Park, a Birmingham win could have taken them third in the table that day but instead they now find themselves in 13th.
Gary Rowett was sensationally sacked only hours after Birmingham beat Ipswich in the game following the Newcastle defeat – but since Zola took over they have lost three and drawn one of the four matches.
The media have suggested that the Birmingham players may not be capable of implementing the style of football Gianfranco Zola wants. The Manager himself admitting that ‘using these qualities requires time’.
Hopefully his players don’t catch on until after tomorrow’s match…
“Newcastle will be a strong team for sure, we are not underestimating the value of the competition.
“We are trying to become more of a passing team.
“We try to be faster in the counter – all these qualities that in my opinion need to be developed if you want to be successful in this league.
“Using these qualities requires time, something that is a bit limited.
“Four games, three defeats and one draw is not very good to be honest.
“I am so confident in what I am doing and the players we have it is just a matter of time, which I believe is not going to be long.
“Bakary (Sako) played very well in the last game Palace played it will become difficult for him to move. I heard the fans were chanting his name as well.”
