Welcome to the footballing graveyard

It’s hard watching this Championship lark.

I hate having to watch it on the TV (I’m currently in Spanish exile) and because so few of the games are on TV, it means that I am excited to watch them and then they turn out to be rubbish.

For all Sky said yesterday that it (Forest v Newcastle) was “thrilling”, while it was 11 v 11 we had an away team who kept the ball and a home team that defended with 11 men behind the ball. It was awful to watch.

Part of me thought that when we went down to 10 men it would make it a better spectacle because it would give Forest enough of a sniff that they would stop going for the 0-0. When we went down to 9 I expected us to get absolutely battered. That we didn’t, shows how rubbish they were. Not that we are particularly any better. Many of those players won’t make it in the Premier League.

It’s not particularly fun to watch us lose against such one-dimensional nonsense.

Get some savage to niggle our best player and cheat his way to achieving his goal, then hoy balls into the box in the hope of a couple going in. That we gave them both goals is even more crap. I may have to stop watching.

At least when you go it is a day out. I’ve seen two games on TV this week and they were both pretty rubbish, very little in either to make my eyes dance.

Even the Leeds game, so we won but it wasn’t very entertaining. I have heard plenty about how competitive etc the Championship is – but that is all just hype-talk. It is absolutely no place to ply your trade if you have any ambition, it’s a footballing graveyard.

And because it is second rate football, you get second rate referees.

Rant over. More to come I’m sure though!

And I don’t blame Newcastle particularly either. At least we have got players who can play.

Most of our opponents seem to think that battling and set-pieces are some sort of replacement for playing football. At least we try and create proper goals.

I don’t want to be overly critical of NUFC – We are the only team I have seen play any football so far.
