The Rafa Benitez Nottingham Forest press conference has taken place on Thursday lunchtime.

The United boss confirming he will make changes for Friday night and the only question for him is ‘how many?’

Rafa says that you can’t relentlessly play the same people and ‘you have to rest players’ at times.

Ciaran Clark and Jonjo Shelvey have been arguably Newcastle’s best two players this season and the pair are the only ones to play the full 90 minutes against Blackburn and two hours on Tuesday at Hull. Will it be their turn for rotation?

The good news is that the Manager confirmed there were no new injuries after the League Cup clash, so at least he will have options when/if making changes.

As for Ian Cathro heading off to Hearts, Rafa Benitez confirmed that so far the club has received no ‘official approach’.

Rafa Benitez Nottingham Forest press conference:

“We have to change some players – how many, we have to decide. When you don’t have much time between games, you have to rest players.

“Obviously we have to change players but how many?

“Nottingham Forest are a good team. They’re doing well now – they’ve had some good results and are scoring goals so we know they will be dangerous.

“After so many wins in a row, people weren’t expecting defeat against Blackburn. Now we have to be sure we get back to good habits.”
