Henri Lansbury called out as a cheat by fellow professional after Newcastle antics

Apart from referee Steve Martin, Henri Lansbury was the pivotal figure at the City Ground.

Didn’t know anything about him beforehand, like most Newcastle fans, so hard to judge if this was the norm or out of character for the Nottingham Forest number 10.

Whilst the ref’s level of incompetence was embarrassing, it doesn’t touch the sides of the cheating we saw from Henri Lansbury.

Whilst everybody connected to Newcastle United, including Rafa Benitez (read below) expressed their disgust at Lansbury’s behaviour, many neutrals added their voices.

Amongst those was QPR midfielder Karl Henry, the same player who incidentally had major run-ins with Joey Barton when he was at Newcastle.

Using his Twitter account, Karl Henry reacted to what he was seeing on Friday night:

“Henri Lansbury is a con artist!

“Threw himself to the ground to get me sent off.

“Got two players sent off tonight. #CheatersNeverProsper”

Sadly, at least in the very short-term, this cheater did very much prosper.

However, hard not to see the Newcastle players properly wound up for the return game at St James Park later this month (Friday 30 December) and at least the presence of Henri Lansbury might get the crowd properly up for it for once!

As well as that, Rafa Benitez is clinging to the hope that in the shorter-term, the Forest number 10 gets what is coming to him.

Rafa Benitez:

“Everything was against us and you could see in the game that we have a lot of things we can complain about…but I was really surprised with Henri Lansbury.

“The way he was acting, twice with the penalties and also against Jonjo Shelvey – maybe he is proud of himself?

“I will not defend Jonjo as he made a mistake but Lansbury was kicking him before that from behind – sometimes the FA take action on the players that are over-reacting, so…

“It was very clear (on second penalty) that the number 10 (Henri Lansbury) was waiting for him (Dummett)…maybe once again, the FA can analyse this and see the behaviour of their Number 10?”
